Previous experience / success

To date, the MILOS technique has been used in the Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg Hernia Centre in more than 1000 patients with abdominal wall and incisional hernias. Follow-up assessments after 5 years show a recurrence rate of less than 5%. (In comparison, the recurrence rate for other surgical methods is 10% to 20%. If repeat hernias occur, these are usually above or below or to the left or right of the mesh but never through the mesh.)
